First of all, this is a great location for a first or last night in Iceland. If you take Flybus, it's a direct bus and this is the first stop. We used Flybus to get to Hafnarfjörður and rhen had our rental car delivered to the hotel the next day (Foss Car Rental). It has a Viking theme which is lots of fun. There are even fish to watch in the breakfast area. The 'cottsge' was good for a family. We liked the hot tub and the restaurant.

Booked double room and twin room. Rooms were clean, bit too warm (we just turned off the radiators). Staff were really friendly and helpful, good choice for breakfast (continental). Restaurant food was delicious, staff were always very helpful and attentive. Hotel is in the process of expansion, so there was some construction noise on a morning, but nothing too disruptive. Only recommendation for the hotel that i would suggest would be to link up with some of the tours as you have to make your way into Reykjavik for coach/minibus pick-up and drop-off.

The hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. Gave us all necessary info for facilities and breakfast time etc. The restaurant was great with a lovely selection at breakfast. The waffle makers were a favourite. The bar staff were very accomodating when I asked for glasses and ice to take to the room. In the room the bath tub was so deep, the water was sulphur geothermal water and sooooooo hot! It was like having a hot tub in the bathroom :)

Our stay at the Hotel Viking in Iceland was nothing short of extraordinary! From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the hotel’s unique themed décor, which beautifully immerses guests in Icelandic Viking culture. The attention to detail, from the traditional wooden carvings to the authentic artifacts, created an unforgettable atmosphere that felt like stepping back in time. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, going above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They were always ready with a smile, offering helpful recommendations for local attractions and ensuring we had everything we needed. The blend of historical charm and modern comfort was perfectly balanced. Our room was cozy and clean, and the communal areas offered plenty of spots to relax while soaking in the ambiance. The on-site restaurant was also a highlight, serving delicious traditional Icelandic dishes that added to the overall experience. If you’re looking for a unique and friendly place to stay in Iceland, I wholeheartedly recommend the Hotel Viking. It’s more than just a hotel—it’s an adventure!

The location and the whole complex of buildings is very nice. You really feel the viking vibes and the restaurant nearby is also really good. Also the breakfest is fantastic. Everything was clean. And you can use the hot tub and the sauna which is a plus.

The hotels was lovely overall and had such a cool Viking theme throughout. There was a lift and 2 stairwell options. Which was ideal for getting to the sauna without walking through reception. Our room was ‘cosy’ which I hadn’t necessarily anticipated but for 3 days it was fine and we were out most of the time anyway. If we had a longer stay I may have asked for a slightly bigger room as our bed did touch 3 walls.. but it was still clean and comfy! The bathroom was a bit naff but everything worked, the shower had great pressure and the sulphur smell from the hot water soon fades and doesn’t stay in hair or clothes. The breakfast was lovely too, no hot food like fried eggs, bacon or sausages but there was plenty of croissants, porridge, waffles, cold meats, yoghurt and tea and coffee and juice and more. The Viking theme was great in the dining area and you can sit on barrels! The staff were all really friendly and we used the hot tub and sauna. The hot tub needed a good clean so that was a brief dip but the sauna was sooo nice and no extra charge (dressing gowns are a little extra). The Viking restaurant opposite was fab too, staff were lovely and the food was excellent! So convenient being literally yards away! The location of the hotel is great too, Hafnarfjörður is a really nice village and a short bus trip to Reykjavik and about an hours bus ride to the Keflavík airport. Than bus stop is just a 2 min walk, if that. There is a Subway (sandwich shop) and a few restaurants too which was handy. I would stay here again but I would pay for a better and bigger room. Wonderful hotel overall!

Hotel Viking exceeded expectations. Full of authentic and tasteful vikingness! Staff were exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond. Spotlessly clean. Breakfast was absolutely gorgeous - the homemade waffles and maple syrup were to die for! My friend and I are vegetarian and there were plenty of delicious options. Location is perfect too, set just opposite the sea, it was really pretty. The bus station is a two minute walk away with the most efficient transport system I have ever experienced, you can get anywhere you need to be. Great location for walks and exploring and also various eateries nearby. Also very reasonably priced. Can't recommend highly enough!!

I have stayed many times and I like the themed nature of the hotel, also the location and the easy parking. The town has good restaurants close by and the harbour adds a nice feel to the town

Great location, with easy access to both the airport bus stops right outside the front of the hotel) and public transport buses (less than 5 minutes walk). Friendly staff. Very clean. Interesting display cabinets around the ground floor . Nice and warm given it was very cold and snowing outside. Comfortable bed and room was dark and quiet at night. Felt comfortable being here as a solo traveller. Hairdryer in bathroom.
